Colville, WA: Colmac Coil team members Malique Perera and George Korbel are now certified as UL 508A Manufacturer Technical Representative’s. They have successfully demonstrated a broad base knowledge, comprehension, and understanding of the UL 508A Standard by completing the UL 508A Manufacturer Technical Representative (MTR) Program in July 2021. The MTR program enables each of Colmac Coil’s factories to maintain highly qualified and knowledgeable team members to specify UL industrial control panels.
“The UL 508A MTR program helped me become even more familiar with the UL508A standard which will help Colmac provide safer products for our customers. The overall benefit of the program is to provide a safe electrical control panel for the customer by sizing and selecting components correctly” said George Korbel, R&D Controls/Design Engineer, Colmac Coil "In order to receive the certification, we had to pass an 8-hour technical exam with an 80% or better.”

The UL 508A Industrial Control Panel (ICP) Shop Program, which Colmac Coil is a member of, is a part of UL’s General Coverage programs and offers control panel manufacturers flexibility to apply UL Certification Marks to a wide range of industrial control panel designs. A provision to the UL 508A ICP Shop Program now requires each ICP shop to maintain an MTR for each ICP shop. The UL 508A MTR program gives special emphasis on effectively interpreting and applying the requirements of the UL 508A Industrial Control Panels Standard.
